Among the many rankers that cracked UPSC in 2019, a prestigious exam held in India, there was this one girl that proved to be ‘beauty with brains’. Aishwarya Sheoran, a 23- year old girl from Rajasthan, secured an AIR 93 in UPSC. The fact, that she holds a fully flourished career in modelling makes her exceptional.

Why modeling?

This young model took up modeling as a hobby, and more importantly, to fulfill her mother’s dream. She was named Aishwarya after the former Miss India, Aishwarya Rai.

Aishwarya set off her modeling career with the Delhi Times Fresh Face 2014, a beauty pageant show where she eventually secured the first place. After winning and gaining ample recognition, she was suggested to participate in the Miss India contest. Aishwarya was known to be qualified among the 21 finalists. This amplified the modeling profession that led her to partake in other beauty pageants and also granted opportunities for walking in high esteemed fashion shows like the Bombay Times Fashion Week, Lakme Fashion Week, Amazon Fashion Week, and for designers like Manish Malhotra.

Back to Academics

Aishwarya has been an enthusiastic, consistent, and brilliant student since the beginning. She was the head girl in school and an active member of the debate society in college. She was a science student and later got admitted to Sri Ram College of Commerce, that is known to be one of the best colleges in India. She acquired 97.5 percent in her 12th board exams. She also appeared for the Common Admission Test (CAT) in 2017 and got a seat at IIM-Indore after cracking but decided to not join since management was not the path she desired to prosper in.

Despite having a promising career in modeling, she chose to grab a break from the fashion world and return to academics giving UPSC a chance too. Belonging to an Army family, it’s no wonder that she has forever dreamt of being a civil servant, particularly an IAS officer. She is so outstandingly hardworking that she didn’t even bother to take up coaching classes. She mentioned that she had prepared for it all, on her own terms and strategies. She followed online study material from two-three websites. She had given up on social media for a complete year just to concentrate and be more focused on her studies, and the results are here. She cracked it on her first attempt.

Aishwarya Sheoran has proved that one can turn into a role model if one strongly desires to. She looks forward to growing the roots of ‘Women Empowerment’ not only to the cities but also to rural places. Aishwarya is a well-established IAS officer and is thankful to all her supporters that helped her cover this journey gracefully.
