19th December, 2015 – the day is marked as a Black day for Indian Laws and Orders when Delhi High Court issued an order of releasing one of the prime accused of Delhi Gang rape and murder case occurred on 16th December, 2012 as he was under 18 when he committed the crime.

After hearing the order from the judge, the first reaction of Asha Devi, victim’s mother was “Jurm jeet gaya, hum haar gaye..” (Crime has won and we have lost). She said,

Despite all our efforts for three years, our government and our courts have released a criminal.

She also added:

The assurance we were given that we would get justice has not been delivered. The fight is not over. We are shattered.Today, a criminal has been set free despite all our efforts. We hear that he will be monitored by a committee for the next two years..

Badrinath Singh, the victim’s father told media that he wasn’t ready to express his thoughts on this judgement.

We aren’t bigger than the court. The order has been issued. There is nothing we can do now. Our fight is a larger one to ensure that the crime of rape is done away with in society. Our fight isn’t over yet.
